It was the first Sunday in March and this year's Clean Up Australia Day was on the 3rd of March.
- Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Cleanliness is half the faith.” [Sahih Muslim 223]
- Hammam b. Munabbih reported that-this is out of (those ahadith) which Abu Huraira narrated to us from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). And he while making a mention of ahadith reported from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said this:
Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. Administering of justice between two men is also a Sadaqa. And assisting a man to ride upon his beast, or helping him load his luggage upon it, is a Sadaqa; and a good word is a Sadaqa; and every step that you take towards prayer is a Sadaqa, and removing of harmful things from the pathway is a Sadaqa. [Sahih Muslim 1009]
As the hadiths above, it is a recommended act in Islam to keep yourself and the environment clean and free of harmful things. And alhamdulillah (all praise is due to Allah), as usual, IQRO Foundation always participate on this event day every year. This time around, we had 40 adults and 20 kids/ teenagers joining up the team.
Hadi Nugroho, who acted as the field coordinator, formed 3 teams. Each team was responsible to clean up the street it was assigned to so overall we cleaned up McCourt street, Fairmont street and Hillard street. After a short briefing, we started cleaning up at 9:45 A.M. and finished at around 11:45 A.M.
Not only we formed great cleaning teams, but we also had a beautiful team who prepared hotdogs and other food for the cleaning teams to enjoy when they finished the job.
It was a great day and we thank everyone who was involved!
